Equitable Oncology officially launches

Today marks an important milestone as Equitable Oncology officially launches with a clear purpose: helping more people access cancer treatment.

Cancer treatment continues to advance, but too many people still miss out when innovative treatments are unaffordable or difficult to access.

Equitable Oncology was established to help advance cancer treatments with affordability and accessibility considered alongside scientific and clinical development.

For Chief Executive Officer Christine Gill, keeping the people and families who may ultimately benefit at the centre of this work is fundamental.

“Every advance in cancer treatment brings hope, but that advance only matters if people can access it. We want to help create a future where more people can benefit from innovative cancer treatments without placing a financial burden on their families.”

Equitable Oncology brings together experience across science, healthcare, governance, philanthropy and organisational leadership. The organisation is chaired by Rob Campbell, with independent Directors Rene Burton and Lee Schoushkoff. Founder and Chief Scientific Adviser Professor Emeritus Stephen Henry provides scientific leadership.

K5K is the first programme being advanced through the Equitable Oncology Model. This innovative cancer immunotherapy is progressing towards first-in-human clinical studies, with the next stage of development to commence once funding is secured.

The launch provides an opportunity to introduce Equitable Oncology more widely and invite philanthropists and philanthropic organisations, partners, supporters and others who share our purpose to become involved.

Together, these contributions can help Equitable Oncology advance K5K and turn our purpose into action.
